Your record of driver experience and vehicle registration is compiled in a driver abstract, sometimes called a Letter of Experience in other licensing jurisdictions. It shows when you were first licensed to drive and that your licence is currently valid. The document must be dated within 30 days of your arrival in Canada.

To insure your vehicle in another jurisdiction, you may be asked to provide proof of your driving history and proof of vehicles registered and insured in your name with a driver abstract.
